Holiday construction sites in Stahnsdorf: Derirandings and closures will soon apply!

Potsdam, Deutschland - On July 17, 2025, several construction sites in Cologne and the surrounding area are expected, which are likely to significantly affect traffic. Already next week, from July 23, preparatory work on important roads will begin, which could become a test of patience for many commuters and residents. The planned measures include a complete blocking of the route with diversions via the L 40 (Nuthschnellstraße), Neuendorfer Straße and Großbeerenstrasse, such as Meetingpoint Potsdam reported.

For pedestrians and cyclists, there are alternative routes that lead via Kohlhasenbrücker Straße and the Waldweg. It can also be expected that the RegioBus line 601 will be redirected, whereby more precise information is to follow. These measures alone promise to ensure a lively come and go in Cologne's traffic situation.

chess repairs in August

Another traffic chaos is imminent in August: From 4th to August 8th, chess repairs will be carried out in the crossing area Lindenstraße/Schulstraße/Krughofstraße. Here, the Lindenstrasse is to be blocked on one side, whereby motorized traffic must avoid the eastern sidewalk. The entrances and trips to Krughofstraße remain particularly affected, while pedestrians and cyclists are led on the opposite side along the construction site.

Immediately afterwards, from August 11th to 15th, there are further repairs at the Wannseestraße roundabout. While the entrance from Potsdamer Allee remains open, the exit to the lock path is blocked, and traffic is diverted via the old Potsdam Landstrasse and John-Graudenz-Straße. In addition, stopping bans are set up, which may still make it difficult for residents to park their vehicles.

flood protection and urban planning mobility concepts

Another noteworthy project has its origin in Feldkirch: there is currently a work on flood protection in the Kapfschlucht. The need for a full lock in this area requires local diversions for pedestrians and cyclists. The Ardetzenberg tunnel is also diverted by the Ardetzenberg tunnel, as reported. These measures are intended to help minimize backlogs during rush hour and to improve the efficiency of local public transport.

With regard to mobility in urban space, another challenge is to be overcome. The need for electric cars and pedelecs increases, but there is often a lack of a comprehensive charging infrastructure. Companies that deal with traffic planning and design are required to take the reduction of noise and emissions into account in order to increase the quality of life of the citizens. As urban space emphasizes, concepts for parking space management and the creation of electrical charging columns are central points that are necessary for modern traffic planning.

The next few weeks will be exciting to challenging for Cologne passengers, drivers and cyclists: With a good dose of patience and planning, you have to prepare for the changes in the street scene.
