Hohenzollern Art Collection Foundation: Agreement for culture and art!
An agreement was recently concluded between the public sector and the House of Hohenzollern, which resulted in the establishment of the Hohenzollern Art Collection Foundation. As cityreport.pnr24-online.de reports, the legal capacity of this foundation has been recognized since the beginning of August. This important institution will take care of all controversial objects that were disputed between the public sector and the House of Hohenzollern.
The foundation will operate as a civil law foundation under the supervision of the Ministry of the Interior and Municipal Affairs of the State of Brandenburg. Its legal seat is in Potsdam, while the administrations can be found in Berlin and Hechingen. The donors of this new institution include the Federal Republic of Germany, the state of Berlin, the state of Brandenburg as well as various important foundations such as the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation and the German Historical Museum Foundation.
Preserving a diverse heritage
One of the remarkable features of the foundation is that it includes more than 3,600 art and collection items, which are made available to the public through various collections - such as the Berlin-Brandenburg Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation. The promotion of art, culture, education, science and research is at the top of the foundation's purpose.
In order to fulfill this mission, the foundation is led by a volunteer board made up of recognized personalities from the art and cultural scene. These include the President of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation and the General Director of the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Berlin-Brandenburg Foundation. The board of trustees has the task of overseeing the management of the board and consists of representatives from the public sector and the House of Hohenzollern.
The importance of foundations
As wikipedia.org explains, foundations are institutions that use assets to pursue a specific purpose. These non-commercial institutions have a long tradition and are usually set up by one or more founders to secure assets for generations. Such foundations that contributed to the founding of hospitals and orphanages already existed in the early Middle Ages.
Foundations often exist to ensure that charitable purposes in the spirit of the founder are pursued in the long term. These institutions are particularly widespread in Germany and have been experiencing an upswing since the 2000s, with more and more people wanting to get involved.
In this context, the Hohenzollern Art Collection Foundation is another example of how culture and art can be promoted in Germany. It remains to be seen how the foundation will develop and what other cultural treasures it can preserve and present.
