Turbine Potsdam: U15 juniors shine at the end of the season!

The U15 juniors of 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam concluded their season with two exciting games this week. On June 18, 2025, they welcomed Werderaner FC Viktoria II and conjured up an impressive 6:3. The team showed a strong offensive performance and demonstrated assertiveness, even if the defense was sloppy at times - conceding three goals is already a word. On their last matchday, on June 22, 2025, they played against FSV Eintracht Glindow and had to be content with a 1-1 draw. Although the Potsdam team took the lead early on, they could not maintain their lead, which can be attributed to a loss of strength and concentration. However, coach Hannes Waldenburger was optimistic about the team's development this season and highlighted the players' progress.

The D2 juniors of 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam celebrated another triumph on June 21st when they defeated Werderaner FC Viktoria 1920 III 9:6. A high-scoring game that was brimming with full commitment. There was a lot of reason to be happy not only on the pitch, but also off it: coach Bettina Stoof drew a positive conclusion to the season and reported that her team achieved 3rd place in the girls' state league and 2nd place in the boys' district class.

Off to new adventures

The coming period will be anything but calm for the turbine teams. There are exciting events coming up: The teams are taking part in the Mini European Championships in Mahlsdorf, and that's just the beginning. On July 5th we go to the Allianz Cup in Falkensee, followed by a training camp in Gnewikow, which takes place from July 11th to 13th. On July 20th, players and parents can look forward to a parent-child tournament in the Waldstadt.

A look outside the box

In the broader football landscape, the U-15 juniors also have a hot connection internationally. The German U-15 junior national team represents the country in girls' football and consists of players up to the older age group of C-juniors. The national team has existed since 2003 and has been coached by Bettina Wiegmann since September 1, 2007. Even though there are no official FIFA or UEFA competitions for this age group, friendly matches and international cups take place regularly. In the past, they shone in the four-nation tournament, among other things, and were able to produce a lot of talent - a total of 52 players made it into the senior national team, an impressive record.

The U15 juniors are now approaching the end of the season, with a crucial game against the USA on Sunday. Another international match against the Netherlands has already been scheduled. These encounters are not only important for the current season, but also important preparation for the coming U-16 year.
