Construction site chaos in Prignitz: Hidden traffic obstacles!

There's a lot going on in Prignitz right now and our streets are in focus again. Current construction sites and traffic disruptions are causing quite a stir. Especially in Pritzwalk, where several streets will be closed for fiber optic work from November 10th to 20th. Those affected include Beethovenstrasse, Jahnstrasse, Goetheweg, Parkstrasse and Putlitzer Strasse. Road users should be particularly careful at the intersection of Beethovenstrasse/Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Strasse and at the junction with Hagenstrasse on Jahnstrasse, as there are full closures there. However, pedestrians can still access the properties on foot, which gives some breathing room.

Driven hunts are also planned in the region on November 14th, 15th and 21st. The hunting areas are spread around the B107 near Glöwen, L10 near Quitzöbel and other places. Drivers should be particularly careful here so as not to endanger the hunters.

Delays at construction sites

Unfortunately there are also delays in Perleberg. A few construction sites are taking longer than expected, including the civil engineering work for telecommunications lines in Friedrichstrasse, Drosselweg, Meisenweg, Amselweg and Ravenslandstrasse, which must be continued until November 1st. Ravenslandstrasse also remains only accessible as a one-way street. Despite the measures, access to the properties remains maintained.

In Lenzen, civil engineering work for telecommunications lines is due until November 28th, which means that short-term full closures on Neustadtstrasse, Rathausstrasse and other streets can also be expected. However, residents will be informed in good time. Residents in Wittenberge also have to prepare for restrictions. From November 3rd, sections of Heinrich-Heine-Platz will be closed due to paving work, and Gartenstrasse will not be accessible from November 17th to December 12th as civil engineering work is taking place there.

Construction sites and safety standards

It is imperative to take a look at safety on construction sites, as over 700,000 work-related accidents occur in Germany every year, with 118,000 of them occurring directly on construction sites. These figures show how important safety standards are in order to avoid accidents, which could usually be prevented through technical, organizational and personal measures (TOP principle). This also includes personal protective equipment such as helmets and safety shoes, which do not prevent accidents but can reduce their consequences. According to IAG Mainz, the construction industry is one of the most dangerous and has the highest rate of fatal work accidents.

In this context, it is also worth mentioning the upcoming lantern parades on November 11th in Perleberg, which will entail some restrictions due to traffic disruptions around the church square between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Last but not least, a quick note about the closures in Quitzöbel: The military group there will be completely closed until the end of 2025 due to renovation work. So, dear road users, stay patient and keep yourself informed about the current construction sites - the next diversion could be lurking around the corner!
