Elbe Bathing Day 2025: Four days full of fun and competitions in Wittenberge!
A very special celebration is coming up in Wittenberge: The Elbe bathing day, which has developed over the years from a small event into a large folk festival. From July 17th to 20th, 2025, the water at Nedwighafen will come to life. What once began with a few brave swimmers has blossomed into a four-day celebration that not only attracts water sports enthusiasts, but also families and onlookers.
24 years ago, a group dared to jump into the Elbe near Hinzdorf for the first time. Today the festival is one of the highlights in the Prignitz region and offers a variety of activities that have something for every taste. Over 80 participants have already registered for the Elbe swimming, while 20 mix teams and ten junior boats have lined up for the exciting dragon boat race.
Supporting program and competitions
The program is packed. The first two days are specifically reserved for schools competing in swimming relay events and junior dragon boat races. OnSaturdayThings get going when the recreational teams take their dragon boat races over a distance of 250 meters. Not only are prizes awarded for the best teams, but fun and team spirit are also emphasized.
OnSundayThe participants are then sent on the Elbe swimming courses of 1500 and 6000 meters. In addition, an Elbe excursion is organized in which the participants float from Hinzdorf to Wittenberge. A children's swim over a distance of 375 meters in the harbor basin is planned for the little athletes. Here the youngest children can gain their first experience in competition on a circuit.
The festival for the whole family
But the Elbe Bathing Day is much more than just a swimming competition. A comprehensive supporting program ensures that there is no boredom outside of the competitions. From a street soccer tournament for younger players to the rousing sounds of the Irish Folk BandOld Green Cloverto options such as trampoline jumping, water walking and bouncy castles for the little ones - there is something for all ages here.
The organization runs under the umbrella of German Society for Non-Destructive Testing (DGZfP), which not only acts as the main sponsor but also donates prizes. Rescue workers are available to ensure the safety of the participants, making the festival an unforgettable experience.
Record registrations and overnight stays
Registrations are in full swing and the organizers are pleased with record numbers. Conny Leue from the organization reported on many interested groups. Accommodation options are available nearby, including campsites, the youth hostel and the hotelHouse Singer.
The entire festival promises to be an experience for everyone, whether water sports enthusiasts or spectators. So if you haven't taken part yet, you should hurry up and submit your registration by June 30th at the latest.
