Big fire brigade anniversary: Legde celebrates 130 years of celebration!
Something big is happening in Legde! From June 27th to 29th, 2025, the Legde Volunteer Fire Department will celebrate its impressive 130th anniversary. Mayor Marius Will and the local fire chief Stephan Frank invite everyone to take part in this special village festival. The anticipation for numerous guests is great, because the festival not only promises a journey through time into the history of the fire department, but also lots of fun and entertainment for young and old.
On Saturday, June 28th, the parade at 2 p.m. will be accompanied by all 14 fire departments in the Bad Wilsnack/Weisen district - a spectacle that should not be missed! The musical accompaniment is provided by the well-known Elbe-Havel-Land fire brigade band from Schollene, which invites you to celebrate and creates a great atmosphere with brass music.
A diverse program for everyone
The festival program begins on Friday at 6 p.m. with the official opening by Mayor Marius Will. And the sporting activities are not neglected either: a volleyball tournament on the sports field starts on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. All day long, visitors can look forward to a vehicle exhibition by DiBuKa Seehausen and THW Wittenberge. DiBuKa specializes in fire and disaster protection and will present special fire engines that also provide an insight into modern firefighting technology.
Another highlight of the program is the water show with music and lights by DiBuKa, which starts on Saturday evening at 10 p.m. For younger guests there is an exciting children's program with a carousel, a trampoline, a bouncy castle and craft stations. And if you want to experience a little journey back in time, you shouldn't miss the theater performance by the Grube Fire Department - this humorously depicts what firefighting looked like 100 years ago.
Culinary delicacies and musical highlights
There is also a lot of culinary on offer at the festival site: from 12 p.m. there is delicious pea stew from the goulash cannon, followed by a traditional coffee table at 2:30 p.m. A celebratory roll call and honors are on the agenda at 3 p.m. In the evening, the Bravo discotheque from Karstädt will provide musical entertainment before the fire dance with the group Firesnake at 10.45 p.m. and the glow show at midnight.
Sunday starts at 10 a.m. with a lively musical morning pint and at 1:30 p.m. the dance group Arabeske from Havelberg performs. Another coffee party at 2:30 p.m. and the start of the tombola at 2:30 p.m. offer the perfect end to this great celebration. Mayor Marius Will will also thank all supporters and donors of the Prignitz Summer.
The Legde fire department can look back on an impressive history. It is part of a long tradition that goes back to Roman times, when the first forms of fire protection organizations were established. The development towards volunteer fire departments as we know them today began in Europe in the 18th century, often driven by the citizens' movements of the 19th century. These pioneering developments have made a decisive contribution to the safety of our communities.
Overall, the members of the Legde fire department are happy to celebrate their anniversary with the entire village community. Whether young or old - this festival promises unforgettable moments and shows how important it is to keep traditions alive while preparing for the future. Be there and celebrate with us!
