When flooding threatens, it is often necessary to tow vehicles away to secure property, although this has not yet been necessary.
The Elbe Bridge in Wittenberge, an impressive structure measuring 1,110 meters long, was opened in 1978. They and the railway bridge, which went into operation in 1987, are essential transport connections and play an important role in the city.
