Kletzke shines in the Our village has a future” competition – prize money beckons!
On July 10, 2023, Kletzke became the scene of an exciting competition when the strict eyes of a jury were focused on the tranquil village in Prignitz as part of the 12th state competition “Our Village has a Future”. The town, which has just 200 inhabitants, had decorated itself with a lot of commitment and dedication and offered the jury a warm welcome in the “Honigstübchen” café.
The jury took a tour of the Kremser to get a comprehensive picture of Kletzke. Stops such as the fire department, the bookcase, the rectory and the church were stopped along the route. Local trade wasn't neglected either: at the Hildebrandt butcher's shop there were not only tasty appetizers and regional snacks, but also lively insights into the history and the offers of the shop.
Strong solidarity and generous prices
Mayor Roland Zippel was surprised and pleased with the victory in the preliminary round of the Prignitz district. According to a report by rbb24, District Administrator Christian Müller (SPD) praised the strong cohesion of the village community. This community made a significant contribution to Kletzke winning the competition at district level and now representing Brandenburg at state level in 2025.
The competition not only received attention, but also financial support: Kletzke was pleased to receive prize money of 10,000 euros - a sum that will be invested in improving the playground, among other things. Two other towns were also awarded prizes: Barenthin took second place with 5,000 euros, while Sükow took third place and received 3,000 euros.
On to the next round
The jury's decision at the state level is expected by July 18, 2023, with the national competition “Our Village has a Future” already planned for 2026. Participating village communities have the opportunity to present the diverse aspects of their lives in the areas of social, cultural, economic and ecological issues. This competition is intended not only to promote civic engagement, but also to stimulate development concepts to improve infrastructure in rural areas.
As can be read on the competition website, aspects such as social facilities, a lively club life and sustainable mobility are crucial. The villages are encouraged to find creative solutions to make local life attractive and thus secure the future of their communities.
So it remains to be hoped that the tranquil town of Kletzke, with its strong sense of community and commitment, can also impress on the big stage of the state competition. The entire town is looking forward to this challenge with anticipation. Kletzke impressively shows that there is a lot of passion in rural Prignitz!
