Art with heart: Artists with disabilities inspire in Schwerin!
The old Neumühle waterworks in Schwerin will be the venue for a very special exhibition on August 16th. The first part of the summer exhibition was recently opened, showing a selection of works by the late painter and graphic artist Klaus Illner, which have been on display in the Pumpenhaus since August 2nd. This exhibition, organized by the Illner family, ends on August 31st and creates a worthy framework for the creative development of talents with disabilities.
From August 16th, the second part of the summer exhibition will come to the fore. Three remarkable artists, all of whom live with disabilities, present their works: Andreas Lüdtke from Lebenshilfe Schwerin, Christian Gau and Brigitte Eickmeier, who works in the Blaumeier studio in Bremen. This initiative shows how important it is to promote inclusion in the art scene and promote creative expression.
Cultural highlights in the Old Waterworks
In addition to the exhibitions, visitors can expect an exciting program in the small gallery in the main building. There, the Lebenshilfe mask theater, the Lachmöwen, will provide entertainment with a musical program entitled “Colourful and Lively”. The finissage of both exhibitions will take place on August 31st at 4 p.m. and there will be an opportunity to view the exhibits before they are dismantled. Opening hours are Wednesday to Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and by appointment.
Anyone interested in the art scene in Schwerin also has the opportunity to take a look back at the exhibition “NO LIGHT WATER”, which took place from June 21st to July 26th. Works by Emerita Pansowová, a sculptor with Hungarian roots, and Dorit Bearach, a painter and graphic artist from Tel Aviv, were presented here. This exhibition was opened by a performance by the Lysistrate dance theater at the Goethe-Gymnasium and attracted numerous interested parties who found their way to Kunst-Wasser-Werk e.V. The finissage offered a musical highlight with the sidewalk quartet from Hamburg.
A look at the artists
Emerita Pansowová, the German sculptor, is particularly known for her works with stone and bronze, which are represented in important collections such as the Berlinische Galerie. Dorit Bearach, on the other hand, inspires with colorful paintings that teeter on the border between representation and abstraction and combine influences from different cultures and languages.
The combination of talented artists and a diverse cultural program in the Altes Wasserwerk makes this place one of the meeting centers for art and culture lovers in Schwerin. An initiative that not only promotes art, but also promotes acceptance and inclusion in society, as the [Kunstplaza](https://www.kunstplaza.de/kunstszene-2/aus Grenzung-akceptanz-inklusion/) makes clear.
A visit to the Old Waterworks is not only an opportunity to enjoy art, but also to deal with the topics of acceptance and inclusion. Be inspired by the artists' works and experience a special kind of cultural exchange. The address of the Altes Wasserwerk is Neumühler Straße 80, Schwerin.
Physical well-being is also provided and visitors are warmly invited to enjoy the events. Be curious about the creative forms of expression that the artists with disabilities offer and reflect the diversity of the art scene in Schwerin.
