Championship and future: Grünberg celebrates 25 years in the electrical trade
On Monday morning, Michael Grünberg celebrated a very special anniversary: 25 years as a master craftsman and as co-managing director of Hans Garkisch Elektro- Anlagenbau GmbH in Perleberg. The company, which is almost 75 years old, has made a name for itself in the electrical trade and today employs 25 people and three apprentices. This shows how important solid training is in this industry, especially in times when everything is becoming more and more technological.
Grünberg, who began his apprenticeship as an electrician in 1989, has continually continued his education. After completing his master's training in 2001, additional training as a business economist followed in 2002. Together with his business partner Thilo Garkisch, Grünberg shares the tasks in the company: While he takes care of large orders, Garkisch's focus is on house connections and private customers. With an annual turnover of around 2.5 million euros, the company can look forward to a stable order situation, which is secured primarily through framework agreements with local energy suppliers.
Insights into the future of the electrical trade
Grünberg's view of his professional life is positive. He plans to continue working until he is 75 years old. His belief? The electrical trade is now less physically demanding than it used to be. At a time when more and more digital solutions are being introduced, he is also thinking about the future: his middle son could one day continue to run the company, which is an exciting prospect.
Speaking of the future – an interesting development in the electrical industry is the upcoming anniversary of the trade magazine “de – das elektrohandwerk”, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2025. This publication not only provides a historical review, but also highlights current challenges affecting the electrical trade. The anniversary issue will be published on June 3, 2025 with exciting portraits of electrical trade companies, but also of industrial companies that are also celebrating anniversaries. A special highlight will be the recognition of the German Museum, which is also turning 100 and will be presenting its innovations there.
The great transformation of the industry
The change in the electrical trade cannot be overlooked. As Lothar Hellmann, former president of the ZVEH, emphasizes, internal processes have changed significantly: from handwritten orders to a paperless office and digital ordering. This transformation is not just of a technical nature - it also includes an organization that is now more oriented towards digital possibilities. During his time in office, Hellmann himself made significant decisions that revolutionized the craft, such as the introduction of electronics technicians for building system integration and the modernization of master craftsman training.
The Cologne electrical industry thrives on constant change, which is characterized by technological innovations and adaptation to modern requirements. Whether in companies like Hans Garkisch Elektro- Anlagenbau GmbH or in numerous other companies - digitalization remains the big topic that brings with it both challenges and opportunities. If the industry continues to develop as dynamically as we are experiencing today, we look forward to exciting times!
