Santiano returns after eight years: big concert in Wittenberge!

The wait is over: The popular band Santiano is back on stage in Wittenberge after eight long years. On July 5, 2025 at 8 p.m., the Alte Ölmühle will be the venue for a highly anticipated concert that will keep the group's fans in suspense. The anticipation is great, because since their founding in Schleswig-Holstein in 2011, Santiano has been combining folky, contemplative sounds with catchy melodies that warm the heart. Northern Courier reports that with their mix of Irish folk, pop, rock and shanties, the musicians address very special topics such as homesickness and wanderlust, love, death and hope.

The band led by Hartmut Krech has now made a name for itself in the German music scene. Over five million records sold and numerous awards, including gold, platinum and diamond awards, speak for themselves. The group has stormed the charts with their six albums - particularly notable is the album "Bis ans Ende der Welt", which was at the top for 186 weeks. Her latest work, “Doggerland,” released in 2023, just as quickly captured the hearts of listeners and stayed at number one for 38 weeks.

A big ending and a new beginning

The anticipation for the evening in the Alte Ölmühle is even greater because the managing director Jan Lange is personally a fan of Santiano. He is optimistic that the concert will be a huge success. But the joy is bittersweet because Andreas Fahnert will be missing due to health problems. The singer has struggled with multiple hearing attacks and Parkinson's disease and has not been able to take part in live performances since. His singing parts are taken over by Axel Stosberg and Hans-Timm Hinrichsen. Despite these challenges, the concert will promise a special enjoyment in the usual family setting of the Ölmühle, which offers space for 5,000 spectators.

3,700 of the limited tickets have already been sold and it may be that not all wishes can be fulfilled. So the excitement remains high as to whether you can get a ticket quickly, because Santiano's music is in great demand, especially among fans of German rock and folk. Their songs are closely interwoven with German music history, which ranges from rock'n'roll to hits to the Neue Deutsche Welle. This variety is in tune with the times and enjoys constant popularity among both young and old. Study in Germany addresses how different the music landscape in Germany has become over the years, and Santiano is an impressive example.

An evening full of emotions

The concert on July 5th will not only be a musical experience, but also a journey through time through the emotions that are typical of Santiano. Viewers can look forward to a journey into the vastness of the sea and the depths of the heart. With every song, the band tells stories of longing and hope that captivate the audience. It will be exciting to see how the band presents itself without their sick colleague and whether they can prove that even a reduced line-up does not diminish the charm of the Northern Lights.

For anyone who has not yet experienced Santiano live, the concert is the best opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of these unique sounds. The evening promises to be full of memories, melancholy, but also joy and community - exactly what you should associate with music.
