Summer solstice in Perleberg: Celebrate with a fashion show and dancing!
There is always something new to report from Prignitz! On the occasion of the upcoming summer solstice, there will be a big celebration in the city center in Perleberg on June 20th. Entertainment will be provided with a fashion show, dancing and a concert. Admission is free and the celebration starts at 4 p.m. A great event that brings the community together and presents it in the best light.
But don't just celebrate, but also bloom and thrive! The Prignitz district has launched an extensive tree campaign. Schools and daycare centers can submit applications for deciduous trees until July 11th. With a budget of 40,000 euros, the campaign aims to help make the surrounding area a little greener.
A variety of events and activities
For anyone who would like to learn a little more about the faith, the Prignitz church district is offering ten hands-on stations on Brandenburg Day. This initiative helps promote the region's unique culture and tradition.
Anyone interested can also take part in the “Run for Peace and Tolerance” in Clara Zetkin Park next June 20th. From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. there will be a family festival that contributes to the community with lots of fun and commitment.
There was a very special visit to Pritzwalk: Mayor Ronald Thiel received 16 children from the children's council. They not only had questions about the city, but were also able to look around the town hall. It's nice to see how younger people are taking part in the political process!
In further news, work is being done diligently on a new building for the Steinke specialist wholesaler in Wittenberge. Occupancy is planned for 2026 and construction site operations have already begun. In addition, colorful umbrellas have recently been decorating Bahnstrasse in Wittenberge, creating a cheerful atmosphere.
Education and environment in focus
Education is also a priority: the Jahnsportfest recently took place in Perleberg, where 350 participants celebrated an exciting competition with an outstanding 22 stadium records. There is also news from the school landscape in Pritzwalk. The Wittenberge primary school organized project days that included sports, games and films and offered the students something different to do during the holidays.
Speaking of education: The Breese Forest School recently organized a sports day in which the students mastered exciting challenges at various stations.
To liven up the region even more, the NABU visitor center in Rühstädt is planning a family overnight stay on June 27th. And the little gardeners don't miss out either: children in Pritzwalk plant herbs at the salad and herb market.
Not to be forgotten are the new forms of burial that are now permitted in municipal cemeteries in Perleberg. This relates to changing social values and allows citizens to individually design their final resting place.
The regional economy is also experiencing an upswing. Sieversdorfer Landmaschinen GmbH has opened its new branch in Düpow and GWG is renovating an apartment block in Quitzow with an investment of 150,000 euros. A win for the region!
