Summer tour in Pritzwalk: Winseners enjoy 40 km through the Prignitz
Beautiful weather, smiling faces: On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the partnership between Pritzwalk and Winsen, the mayor of Pritzwalk, Dr. Ronald Thiel invited a delegation from Winsen to the summer tour. Over 100 participants enjoyed the bike tour, which took place in the best summer weather. The group tackled the picturesque route through the Prignitz, past fields, meadows and idyllic villages.
The round trip covered an impressive 40 kilometers and led to a stop in Mesendorf. Here the group had the opportunity to visit the small railway museum and the historic “Pollo” museum railway. After this cultural strengthening, there was coffee and cake in a rustic restaurant, which further increased the sociable mood.
A look at the future
The destination of the summer tour was the cultural center in Pritzwalk. There, Mayor Thiel explained the plans for redesigning the area around the cultural center, while the participants enjoyed bratwurst and cold drinks. The guests were thrilled by the beauty of the landscape and the warm hospitality of the Pritzwalkers. Jessica Karbon, head of the education, social and cultural department of the Winsen city administration, emphasized that Pritzwalk and the Prignitz are an ideal excursion destination for Winsen cyclists. “There is really a lot to discover here,” says Karbon, which will certainly encourage some people to visit.
The partnership celebrations are not only a reason to celebrate, but also an opportunity to further deepen the exchange between the cities. This type of municipal partnership is of great importance - an aspect that is supported not only by the Council of European Municipalities and Regions, but also by the associated database, which includes almost 7,000 connections between German municipalities worldwide. This shows the diversity of municipal partnerships, which are divided into different categories, including formal partnerships or project-based projects. It offers interested parties the opportunity to find out about existing relationships and, if necessary, to register their own partnerships.
For the people of Winsen, the summer tour was more than just a bike ride. It represented a high point in the friendly relationship between the two cities and impressively showcased the beauty and solidarity of the region. So if you haven't been to Pritzwalk yet, you could go on your next bike tour - the summer tour has proven that there is a lot to experience here!
