Sprint to the Autobahn-A14: Wittenberge during the start of new shores!

In the Altmark region, a lot is happening: On June 14, 2025, the construction of the A14 between Wittenberge and Seehausen-Nord ensures lively interest among residents and commuters. The highway is not only an important infrastructure project for the northwest of Brandenburg, but also a future -oriented project that Prignitz is supposed to link closely with Magdeburg and Schwerin. This reports Nordkurier .

The work on the 11 km long section of the A14 is currently underway, whereby the drivers on the B189 have to arrange themselves with narrowed lanes, speed 50 and traffic light regulations. Access to the B195 has also been blocked because of the roundabout since April. The project manager of Deges, Silke Kinner, announced an early opening of the blocking: From August, road users can use access again.

progress in the construction of the Elbbrücke

A highlight of the project is the new Elbe bridge, which has previously reached a good 355 meters of the planned 412 meter long steel structure. This impressive bridge is moved with a weight of over 7,300 tons over hydraulic strands and is a real eye -catcher. There was also progress here: an 88 meter long section will soon be moved to the second bridge pillar. These impressive construction work is carried out with the support of ponto -units from Belgium, which ensure the stability of the construction. The aim is to complete the bridge by spring 2026, as rbb24 reported.

The total cost of the motorway project amounts to around 2.3 billion euros, with a special cost framework of around 513 million euros for the section between Wittenberge and Seehausen-Nord and 182 million euros for the Elbbrücke. Around 2.1 million cubic meters of soil are installed for this, with around 150 construction workers currently in use.

traffic challenges and the future outlook

But there are also challenges: residents currently complain of longer roads of up to 30 kilometers to Wittenberge. Therefore, the Deges checks to adapt the planned traffic management in order to better meet the needs of those affected. The old Elbbrücke is demolished after the opening of the highway to make room for the new building in the same place.

by mid-2026, a partial opening of the A14 between Seehausen-Nord and Wittenberge is planned, while the full accessibility will be sought by the end of 2027. The challenges are great, but the future of traffic in the region looks promising. The securing and expansion of traffic routes are central elements of transport policy, as explained in the traffic investment report 2022, which documents the progress and future projects achieved, such as BMV Prepared.
