There are exciting times ahead in the world of finance. The Sparkasse Spree-Neisse announces a change in leadership that will occur at the turn of the year. Ulrich Lepsch, the CEO, will enter his well-deserved retirement after more than 51 years, including 30 years at the helm. Ralf Braun has already been chosen as his successor and will be in charge of the company's fortunes from January 1, 2026. Braun can look back on a long career at the savings bank and has been a board member since 2004.

Meanwhile, the Board of Directors recognizes Lepsch's contributions not only to the institute itself, but also to the entire region. Sparkasse Spree-Neiße has total assets of over 5 billion euros, employs 356 people and operates 38 branches and 47 ATMs. A good sign: The bank is considered a service and quality leader in Cottbus and the Spree-Neiße district.

Growth despite challenges

The year 2024 brought excellent business results for Sparkasse Spree-Neiße. With an increase of 99.6 million euros (2.5%), customer deposits also contributed to increasing liabilities to customers to a total of 4,076.0 million euros. The operating result before valuation is a solid 97.5 million euros.

The Sparkasse is planning moderate portfolio growth and stable business development for 2025. In addition, the facility supported numerous charitable projects with over 90,700 euros in 2024. In total, they have provided more than 1.6 million euros for 554 projects in art, culture, sport and social projects since their founding, which shows that social responsibility is very important to the Sparkasse.

A strong support for the region

The roots of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe go back over 200 years and were founded with the aim of offering people a safe place for their savings. The German Savings Banks and Giro Association has since played a significant role in promoting the regional economy and offers support for numerous local issues. The Sparkasse's commitment to the region is obvious, be it through supporting Olympic and Paralympic champions in Cottbus or through supporting various sporting events.

With Ralf Braun at the helm, who will shape the Sparkasse's future development together with Thomas Heinze, it will be interesting to see how the institute will continue to develop under new leadership.
