Marie-Curie-Gymnasium: Sporty school honored in the district!
A particularly sporty highlight took place on June 19, 2025 when the Marie-Curie-Gymnasium invited to the sports festival. Numerous students, teachers and helpers gathered on the sports field to celebrate the success of the past school year. Headmistress Kerstin Piechotka took the opportunity to look back on the brilliant performance of the students. These had taken part in various competitions during the school year and achieved numerous successes. The list speaks for itself: national championship title in swimming, first place at the regional championship in table tennis and even victory at the district championships in basketball and football. A proud balance that was then recognized.
Mayor Andreas Igel handed over an award to the most successful school in the Teltow-Fläming district as part of the event. In addition to hedgehogs, Ricardo Franke, the head of the Schools department, were also present. Igel praised the commitment of the teachers and the discipline of the students who presented themselves in a long -term sports program.
The highlights of the sports festival
The sports festival began with a common warm -up phase, which was guided by three motivated students. Afterwards it went to the competitions, which included a variety of disciplines: Brennball, table tennis, doubts of ball, basketball, handball and volleyball were just a few of the offers that provided excitement. It was also particularly noteworthy to hand over a new fully automatic time measuring system, equipped with light barriers and a digital scoreboard in order to further improve the framework conditions for sporting competitions. This new acquisition should not only optimize the training opportunities, but also create more realistic competition conditions.
competitions are not only a way to discover talents, they also promote the community and the team spirit. This idea was also underlined by the positive feedback from the participants. Each student received a certificate regardless of the placement, so that nobody “went out empty”. Such events as they are carried out in other schools, such as at the sports festival of the I.R.S.P. Vallendar in 2019, show that sport is an important element in everyday school life. All grades and teachers were also included there and there were a variety of disciplines that were successfully carried out.
sport as part of the education
Nowadays, school and club sport is becoming increasingly important. Studies, as published by Hildebrandt-Stramann, Laging and Teubner in 2014, show how important it is to integrate exercise and sport into everyday school life. This is not only relevant for physical health; Social competence and teamwork can also be promoted through sporting activities. The integration of movement in all -day schools is continuously working to develop and support a movement -oriented school culture.
The sports festival at the Marie-Curie high school has once again shown how important such events are for schools. They not only bring joy and excitement, but also contribute to the development of a strong school community. It is only to be hoped that the coming years will be just as sporty and successful as the past school year.
