Farewell to flashing lights: Fire brigade legends celebrate the last assignment in Prenzlau!
On June 29, 2025, a very special day for the Prenzlau volunteer fire brigade, because two long -time firefighters, Wolfgang Loose (69) and Rainer Mülling (62), resigned. The two have a total of impressive 99 years of experience they have invested in the fire brigade. Wolfgang Loose joined the fire brigade in 1972 and had also worked as a district fire chief since 2007 before moving to the operational department of the Prenzlau volunteer fire brigade in 2020. Rainer Mülling had been there since 1979 and was appreciated for his charm and discipline, which he brought into the community. These two men will be remembered not only because of their achievements, but also because of their philanthropy.
Before you leave, you were called to a fire on the site of the fire department depot in Grabowstrasse, where they bravely and quickly deleted a fire on a stack of Euro pallets. The deputy city defense guide Dirk Metzer praised her quick reaction and effective fire fighting. A surprise loss was organized for their services, which took place in honor. On the same day, they were picked up by their apartments with flashing lights and Martinshorn, which underlines their deserved recognition for decades of loyalty.

The celebrations were in a warm and warm frame. Mayor Hendrik Sommer praised Wolfgang Loose, especially for his willingness to take responsibility in difficult situations. "Mr. Loose always had a good hand when it came to leading the fire brigade through challenging times," said Sommer. Rainer Mülling was praised for his charming way and discipline, the two celebrate an extraordinary chapter in her life story. From July 1, 2025, Tino Fischer will become the new local defense guide, while Dennis Schwichtenberg acts as a deputy. Christian Strasbourg releases the function of the deputy local military leader, but remains actively preserved.
Currently, the Prenzlau volunteer fire brigade has 68 active members, whereby the organization can record a positive development through the influx of younger comrades. This is particularly gratifying because volunteering in Germany plays an essential role, especially in times of crisis. Karl-Heinz Banse, President of the German Fire Brigade Association, indicates the importance of volunteering and thanks the more than a million volunteer fire brigade members for their tireless efforts. Even in the past, as during the flood disaster in the summer of 2021, firefighters demonstrate tireless efforts for the community.
