Bathing season in Templin at risk: lifeguards urgently needed!

The Templin city lake is currently idle and the city pool cannot be used. The reason for this unfortunate situation: There is a shortage of lifeguards. How Northern Courier reports, the Stephanus Foundation, which runs the city pool in cooperation with the city of Templin, is confident, but urgently needs additional support. Without new lifeguards, the pool will have to remain closed this summer.

Last year, the bathing season was secured through a cooperation with NaturTherme Templin, but there is currently no similar solution for 2025. This is cause for concern because the Templin City Lake is a popular place for recreation and leisure activities.

Urgently wanted: lifeguard

The lifeguard position is available from July to August in Boitzenburger Land, with working hours from Wednesday to Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. We are looking for people who have a silver or gold lifeguard badge and can demonstrate valid first aid training. The requirements for applicants are high: attention, a sense of responsibility and the ability to act calmly in stressful situations are crucial. Anyone who is interested can contact us at short notice by email or telephone. Personal conversations at the city pool or at the Stephanus Foundation are also possible, informs Job board.

What matters

The lifeguards take on a responsible task: They supervise the swimming pool operations, ensure the safety of the guests and are on the scene quickly in an emergency. It is also important to have the necessary knowledge of swimming badges, which, among other things, demonstrate swimming skills and knowledge. A badge in silver, gold or bronze is necessary as the early swimmer badge (seahorse) does not provide proof of safe swimming. People with only the seahorse still need to be supervised when swimming, like the DLRG explained.

Every helping hand is really needed here: those responsible are calling on citizens to pass on the request for support and to activate potential candidates. The call for help aims to keep the city lake and the city pool accessible to citizens while keeping safety as the top priority. Because together we can ensure that the swimming season is a success again this year.
