Biker for life: Blood brothers inspired for donation in the blood in Schwedt!

In Germany, the numbers are alarming: In the course of their lives, 50 to 80 percent of people have the probability of being dependent on a blood donation. Nevertheless, there is a worrying picture of the willingness to donate blood: only 3 to 5 percent of the population agreed to donate actively. The Uckermärkische Verein "Schwedter Blutsbrüder" has set itself the task of improving these figures. Since 2008 they are committed to ensuring that more people donate blood - and with a lot of passion.

The foundation stone was laid with the first joint exit in June 2008. On this memorable day, 120 motorcycle fans took part, 46 of whom were ready to make their contribution. After a medical examination, 33 motorcyclists were finally allowed to donate. This year the 17th blood brothers tour took place and the result is impressive: over 400 guests came, 122 wanted to donate blood and 108 of them could actually help, including 35 first and second donors. Nordkurier reports that the event was generally available in the Oder Center.

But the blood brothers' tour is more than just a blood donation. It has developed into a family party that also offers children fun and entertainment. Among other things, there were bouncy castles, trampolines and make -up stations that caused employment. The crowning glory was the rock band “Cible”, which fueled the mood and provided exuberant atmosphere.

The conditions for participation for the blood donation are clear: at least 18 years old you should be fit for health and at least 50 kilograms. In addition, a valid ID card is necessary to do the registration formalities quickly and easily. A low -fat meal and sufficient liquid of at least 1.5 liters (non -alcoholic) is recommended before the donation to optimally prepare the body.

volunteers are committed

Part of the success is also thanks to the great commitment of volunteers who support the organization and implementation. The Red Cross (DRK) rely on over 400,000 volunteers nationwide, which play an important role, among other things, at blood donation dates. They take care of the planning and ensure that everything runs smoothly so that the medical specialists can concentrate on the donation themselves. DRK describes the diverse possibilities of voluntary commitment that not only limit themselves to blood donation, but also senior care, cold aids and much more.

The knowledge achieved about the importance of the blood donation proves that there is still a lot of room for improvement. In the future it is important to further promote the willingness to donate blood, because every donor helps to save life. Blood donation emphasizes how important it is to share your own experiences and also to sensitize in your own environment.
