Blankenburg celebrates 775 years: parade, concerts and regional treats!
Blankenburg am Oberuckersee is about a very special festival: From June 27th to 29th, 2025, the picturesque place celebrates its 775th anniversary. The occasion is reason enough to get a colorful program on your feet that should attract both locals and visitors. The preparations are already in full swing, and local mayor Dietmar Grapentin has put together a varied festival program with the organization committee that offers something for everyone.
The anniversary starts on Friday, June 27th, at 7 p.m. with a classic concert in the newly renovated village church. The program includes appearances by the trombone choir and the choir of the Prenzlau cantore, accompanied by the sounds of the organ played by Kantor Hannes Ludwig. This festive start should not miss cultural -interested.
a festival full of activities
on Saturday, June 28th, it will be really lively. The big parade begins at 11 a.m., led by local mayor Grapentin. The festival meadow then opens at the sports field at 1 p.m. and invites you to participate in numerous activities. There is something for every age group from clay pigeon shooting and bullriding to a pentathlon and square races.
Especially for the little ones there is a full program: bouncy castles, a church children's choir and many regional delicacies await the small festival visitors. There is also a lot to cost for the big ones - including exotic cocktails that sweeten the festive evening. From 8 p.m. the live band "Right Now" rocks the stage, followed by an impressive laser show and DJ Fletscher, which will make the dance floor shake.
The festive end of the weekend is the Sunday, which begins at 8 a.m. with family fishing on the lake. After that, a traditional morning drink with brass music is celebrated from 10 a.m. Dietmar Grapentin is optimistic and hopes for a large number of participants from the community and the surrounding area to make this historical celebration a special experience.
tradition in change
Such cultural festivals in Germany are a valuable opportunity to keep history, customs and traditions alive. According to Kultur-und-natur.com, these events not only offer an insight into the regional identity, but also promote cohesion within the community. Whether in the Rhineland with a carnival or in Bavaria with a wide variety of folk festivals - such festivals enrich our cultural life.
To celebrate the anniversary, special anniversary cups from the region are also used instead of the usual beer mugs. These are produced in the Uckermark workshops in Prenzlau and have a motif that has its origin at the 750th anniversary. A beautiful piece of home that also reminds that there is much more in such festivals than just exciting activities - they are an expression of origin and tradition.
We can be excited to see how the celebrations will develop and which magic will work in Blankenburg if the community triggers the past together and heralds a new section of the story.
For more information about these and other festivals, take a look at the big folk festivals in Bavaria, such as the Gäubodenvolksfest, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in August. It shows how important the preservation of these traditions is for local communities and strengthening regional identities.
be there in June and celebrate with!
