Chaos on Uckermark's streets: alcohol, coercion and vandalism!
Traffic is currently very busy in the Uckermark and the police had their hands full. On September 25th there were several incidents that show how dangerous the situation on the streets has become. According to the East Police Department, a 19-year-old jumped in front of a moving car in Schwedt and damaged the exterior mirror. He is already known to the authorities and is now not only confronted with a shock, but also with proceedings for coercion and damage to property, like that Northern Courier reported.
The evening didn't end well for another young man. A 17-year-old cyclist was caught during a check in Schwedt with a breath alcohol level of 1.83 per mille and taken to the hospital. Not only does he face a charge for drunk driving, but also a lesson that he won't soon forget - as a cyclist you have to know how important road safety is. The regulations in Germany are clear: from 0.5 per mille a driver is considered unfit to drive, which in the worst case can result in up to three years in prison if you are responsible for an accident Law Forum.
The consequences of drunk driving
Drunk driving should not be underestimated and is unfortunately a common cause of serious traffic accidents. As the tax master explains, the penalties start with a blood alcohol level of 0.5 to 1.09 per mille with a fine of 500 euros and a one-month driving ban. Each further violation leads to more draconian penalties, and from 1.1 per mille it becomes very serious and you are completely unfit to drive. It is often the case that you not only lose your driver's license, but also a terrible lesson that can be expensive.
On the night of September 25th, another incident occurred in Potzlow-Seehausen: five warning beacons and four warning lamps that had been set up on damaged roads for safety purposes were stolen. The criminal police have started an investigation into dangerous interference with road traffic, and the damage to the company concerned amounts to several hundred euros. Such unscrupulous behavior not only endangers your own safety, but also that of other road users.
In the Uckermark it is once again evident that road traffic can often be unpredictable and dangerous. It remains to be hoped that these incidents will lead to all road users becoming more aware of their responsibilities in road traffic. Ultimately, safety should be the top priority for everyone.
