Charly Hübner live: Reading from Uwe Johnson's masterpiece in Brüssow!

Where can you find exciting readings and entertaining concerts? There is guaranteed to be something for everyone in the Uckermark. On July 12th, actor and director Charly Hübner will go on a reading tour and read from his new work at 7 p.m. on the open-air stage by the lake in Brüssow near Prenzlau. [Nordkurier](https://www.nordkurier.de/panorama/hier- Werden-sie-unterhalten-3715467) reports that Hübner created a homage to the writer Uwe Johnson with his book “If you knew what I know…”. He takes readers on a journey through his Johnson universe, in which he tries to unite society, life, politics and inner being in one text.

For Hübner, Uwe Johnson is “the greatest German writer of the 20th century,” and his fascination with him began at the age of 19 with his work “Anniversaries.” His reading is organized under the auspices of the Reading Foundation, and partners such as the Mecklenburg State Theater and the Uwe Johnson Society support the event. In addition, Christoph Bungartz from NDR Kultur will bring Hübner's reading to the radio when it will be broadcast on February 23, 2025 in the “Sonntagsstudio”. Anyone who can't be there live has the chance to be transported into the world of Uwe Johnson Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater.

Musical accompaniment

But it's not just literary, there's also a lot on offer acoustically. The “KellaPopChor” of the Evangelical Church Community of Templin starts its second tour that same evening at 7:30 p.m. in front of the Mary Magdalene Church in Templin. This choir is guaranteed to bring a good atmosphere to the region with its music, and the summer festival of the parish in Herzfelde on July 13th at 2:30 p.m. will certainly be another highlight [Nordkurier](https://www.nordkurier.de/panorama/hier- Werden-sie-unterhalten-3715467).

Elbland Festival and Uwe Johnson tribute

Those interested in education and culture can also look forward to the 25th Elbland Festival in Wittenberge on July 11th and 12th. Under the motto “Festival of Lights of Dreams”, Angelika Milster and the young talents Lara Hüsges and Yiorgo Ioannou from the Lotte Lehmann Academy will be performing. Tickets are available at the Wittenberge Tourist Information Office and online [Nordkurier](https://www.nordkurier.de/panorama/hier- Werden-sie-unterhalten-3715467).

There are other readings on the subject of Uwe Johnson, including on September 29th and 30th at the St. Pauli Theater in Hamburg, where Charly Hübner and presenter Caren Miosga will read from “Anniversaries”. This reading, accompanied by Ninon Gloger on the piano, promises to be a special experience. The novel, which comprises 1,875 pages, tells a moving family story and impressively illustrates German history of the 20th century [Giessener Allgemeine](https://www.giessener- Allgemeine.de/kultur/charly-huebner-und-caren-miosga-lesen-uwe-johnson-zr-92542430.html).

There is great anticipation for these cultural highlights. Whether literature or music, the Uckermark and the surrounding area certainly offer a lively scene for everyone who appreciates culture and community.
