Last weekend, the Oberbach in Neubrandenburg was transformed into a shimmering sea of ​​lights that attracted hundreds of visitors. The event was now the fifth paddling with lights, which this year had a record number of participants. With 32 teams traveling from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Brandenburg, more people took part than ever before. The dragon boats were creatively decorated, with many paddlers wearing colorful fairy lights, headbands and wings, giving the evening a fairytale touch. The mood was further fueled by delicacies such as stick cakes around the campfire and the singing of Max Kaschel.

Versatile supporting program

The Light Paddling is more than just a dragon boat race. Numerous activities awaited the visitors, including a lantern parade led by the Neubrandenburg Free Fan Parade, which put the participants and spectators in the right mood. The participants had to compete in seven pursuit races over a distance of 1,500 meters. In the end, the Rostock Seebären secured first place with a time of 9:11.98 minutes.
