An emotional funeral service for eight-year-old Fabian took place on Thursday in the parish church in Güstrow. The entire community was invited to say goodbye to the “little sunshine” together. This piece brought many in attendance to tears and conveyed the deep sadness and loss felt by the family. Fabian's mother expressed her deepest wish to say goodbye to her son and at the same time to express her heartfelt thanks to everyone who is by her side during this difficult time.
The family decided to hold the service publicly to give everyone the opportunity to say goodbye to Fabian before the funeral takes place in the closest circle. In a moving moment, Fabian's mother asked that personal condolences be refrained from as the family did not have the strength to receive them. So the service became a shared time of remembrance and consolation, in which Fabian's family was also present and shared their grief.
