Successful St. Martin's Market in Neu-Grambow: 1,720 euros for the leukemia association!
A colorful St. Martin's market was celebrated again last weekend in Neu-Grambow, which not only shone with handmade decorative items, handicrafts made of ceramics, wood and metal, but also with a lot of heart and commitment to a good cause. Like that Northern Courier reported, this was the fifth edition of the market, which this time featured 36 dealers from Germany and Poland. With a high number of visitors, which, according to Christine Wagner from the organization team, was certainly pleasing, the motto of the market, supporting the “Uckermark against Leukemia” association, was vividly implemented.
The participants were not only able to enjoy the diverse products, but also actively contribute to a good cause. A total of an impressive 1,720 euros in donations were collected, which represents a pleasing increase compared to the previous year (1,300 euros). The contributions of rural women and firefighters who played their part in this success are particularly commendable. A highlight of the market was the opportunity for typing at the Uckermark Association stand, which gave the opportunity to register as a potential stem cell donor.
Together for children with cancer
The Martinsmarkt initiative is just one component of a larger commitment within the region. Campaigns by REWE markets in the Uckermark and Barnim also resulted in an impressive donation total of over 20,000 euros NAG Brandenburg highlights. This sum was collected during a week of action during which customers were able to donate to the “Uckermark against Leukemia – Together against Cancer” association at the checkouts of the REWE store.
Matthias Becker was able to officially present the check to the club chairwoman Ines Baumgarten during the reopening of the REWE market in Prenzlau. Part of the donations goes to an art therapy project at the Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin, which aims to help children with cancer during their treatment. Future projects, such as the design of a “lounge corner” in the pediatric oncology unit, are also planned to offer young people a place to retreat. The association has been committed to children with cancer and their families in Brandenburg and Berlin since 2009 and fulfills their heart's desires.
The St. Martin's Market will continue
The Martinsmarkt in Neu-Grambow not only perfectly showcased art and crafts, but also raised a significant sum for children with cancer. The next opportunity to participate in this great initiative has already been determined and will be on November 7, 2026. In the spirit of “Strong Together”, the organizers and retailers are already looking forward to numerous visitors and a new opportunity to do good.
