Fire department danger averted: entrepreneur saves the glass house for young people!
There is good news from the world of open youth work in Prenzlau. The “Glashaus”, which was taken over by Kulturwerk Prenzlau e.V. and Trickfabrik Schwedt e.V. at the beginning of the year, has now developed into an important place for children and young people. The need for support is growing, and fortunately Daniel Pohl, owner of the company Brand- und Arbeitsschutzservice Genetzky, has agreed to contribute to the safety of the young visitors. How Northern Courier reports, Pohl became aware of the need for fire protection in the “Glashaus” through the Engaged City of Prenzlau network.
In this context, Pohl donated hand fire extinguishers and is ensuring that the necessary signage and escape and rescue route plans are installed in the building. This not only benefits security, but also shows how important it is to him to promote open youth work. As a former honorary mayor, Pohl also brings valuable experience and attaches great importance to the personal and social development of young people.
Support for open youth work
The importance of open youth work offers was also underlined by Ragnar Dahl from Kulturwerk Prenzlau, who praised Pohl's uncomplicated support. Mayor Hendrik Sommer sees the “Glashaus” as a central part of youth work in the city. The importance of such facilities should not be underestimated, because they offer children and young people a space to develop and experience community.
In general, open youth work promotes the development of young people into independent personalities, which is learned not only at school but also in community activities. This is supported by extracurricular educational opportunities that cover numerous areas such as sport, culture and even political participation. How the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs emphasizes, political education for children and young people plays an essential role in promoting self-confidence and the ability to participate.
Diverse offers for young people
The spectrum of leisure activities for children and young people is broad. From sport to cultural programs to creative workshops, young people have a wide range of opportunities to learn responsibility and actively participate in society. This happens, among other things, in youth centers that create free offers without there being any entry requirements for the participants. Numerous children and young people are active in various organizations and associations, which represent important places for participation and living democracy.
Thanks to the support of sponsors and the committed work of the Engaged City of Prenzlau network, the “Glashaus” can continue to exist as a place of hope and growth for the city’s youth. It remains to be hoped that further offers of support will follow in order to maintain the valuable work in open youth work.
