Large road project: Expansion of Winterfeldstraße starts in 2025!

Something is happening on Winterfeldstrasse: From 2025, an ambitious construction project will start, which is intended to significantly improve traffic conditions. The city administration plans to fundamentally expand the road from Stettiner Straße to Freyschmidtstraße at around 660 meters. A public information event took place in advance, in which the residents were integrated into the project at an early stage. Christin Walther, the head of the municipal building authority, made it clear how important the integration of the residents is to create transparency and understanding.

The total costs for the large project amount to around 6.7 million euros. Funding is carried out by funding from the urban development program "Growth and Sustainable Renewal" and the guideline for promoting investments in municipal road construction, which was last published on May 16, 2024. This guideline aims to sustainably improve the traffic conditions in the communities of Brandenburg and to support the 2030 mobility strategy. The construction work is carried out in three sections, the first section from Stettiner Straße to Lessingstrasse. The start of construction is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025, with the aim of completing the measure by 2027. In order to ensure the accessibility of the residents, the construction company will inform you in good time about temporary unavailability. In addition, a temporary stop in Kietzstraße at the Pestalozzi primary school is planned to maintain local public transport. Mayor Hendrik Sommer has already signaled that he would like to accompany the start of construction to promote close communication between citizens and the city administration.
