The city of Lychen has decided that from 2026 the monthly maximum contributions for the care in their daycare centers will increase. This applies in particular to the "Island Decker" daycare center, where the contribution for children under the age of three is increased from currently EUR 267.35 to EUR 393.64. The after -school children are also affected, here the contribution increases from 113.85 euros to 199.06 euros. These new contributions apply from January 2026, after the city councils have passed a corresponding statute majority.
The treasurer Nadine Weidner emphasized that the high number of costs for the operation of a daycare center should not be underestimated. The operating costs for the two institutions were almost 893,000 euros in 2024 - an increase of 250,000 euros compared to the previous year. However, the income was only around 557,000 euros. It turns out that a good hand is not only in demand when it comes to care, but also when finances.
New financing freedom for parents
The increase in contributions to the care is particularly relevant for parents with an annual net income from 55,000 euros. The new maximum contributions apply to the maximum childcare period - for the daycare this is eight hours and more, while it is a maximum of four hours for the after -school care center. For parents who earn less who take less hours or have several children, the contributions are reduced.
For children over three years, however, there are relief: from August 2024, the daycare visit in Brandenburg, apart from the food money, will be free of contributions. This regulation should enable many families to have a significant financial breathing space.
