Creative workshop for children: Filmmaking in the summer holiday workshop!
Something is happening for creative minds in the Uckermark! From August 11th to 15th, an exciting short film workshop under the motto “Your film in the cinema” will take place in the Glashaus in Prenzlau. This event is aimed at children aged 8 to 12 and gives them the opportunity to turn their stories into film. Led by an experienced media educator and social worker, the young filmmakers can immerse themselves in the world of film every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In this workshop, participants not only learn how to plan scenes and act in front of the camera, but also how to ultimately edit a film. The short film produced will finally be presented in the cinema as part of the UMChallenge 2025. Here the children have the opportunity to present their works in front of an audience and take part in a competition with an award ceremony. Physical well-being is also taken care of thanks to the support of Trickfabrik Schwedt e.V. and Kulturwerk Prenzlau e.V.
But that's not all! Another highlight this year is the UM Challenge workshop, which will take place from July 22nd to 26th in the Multicultural Center in Templin. This is aimed at young film enthusiasts aged 10 to 18 and offers a great opportunity to develop their creative potential and make new friends. As part of the week-long workshop “From Idea to Film”, the group will learn to write a script, work practically with the camera and edit the finished film. The theme this time, “UMSE(H)EN”, is intended to enable participants to create their own personal perspective on film.
More workshops for young talents
In a second round, the workshop will also be offered at the “Alte Brewery” youth culture center in Angermünde from July 29th to August 2nd and then at the family home in Prenzlau from August 5th to 9th. All participation is free, which is particularly beneficial for families with lower incomes. Food is also provided during the workshops so that participants can concentrate fully on making the film. Here too, the short film produced will be submitted as part of the UM Challenge competition.
At the same time, various film seminars offer a workshop for young people between the ages of 11 and 15. Participants can not only gain practical experience in filmmaking, but also present their stories in various genres in an exciting, funny, romantic or scary way. At the end of the workshop, they can show their short films at a film premiere. These will be published online, giving participants the opportunity to make their works accessible to a wide audience. Here too, complete technical equipment is provided and physical well-being is taken care of.
