Lantern magic in Prenzlau: A festival of lights for young and old!
On November 7, 2025, the residents of Prenzlau came together for the traditional lantern parade, an event that not only illuminated the city but also warmed people's hearts. Organized by the city's daycare centers, the parade was a real highlight in the event calendar and caused a lot of anticipation and enthusiasm, both among the children and their companions. Carmen Kelichhaus, who works in the Office for Education, Sport and Social Affairs, emphasized the excitement and anticipation of the educators, who put a lot of effort and dedication into the matter.
There were numerous imaginative and sometimes even spooky surprises to discover along the route through the city park and along the lake path to the seaside resort. Around 1,500 people took part in the event, including many children, parents, grandparents and young people who looked forward to the experience together. The SC “Eintracht” Rossow e.V. shawm band with 30 musicians accompanied the procession and provided musical highlights.
An unforgettable evening
Marek Wöller-Beetz, the future mayor, and Mireé Kolm, the reigning swan queen, were waiting for the visitors in the seaside resort to welcome the guests. Silvio Grensing moderated the event, which featured an impressive stage show: 17 children between the ages of six and ten showed off their skills together with eight educators. The performances were enthusiastically applauded and reflected the group's great commitment.
The evening culminated in a spectacular fireworks display that lit up Lake Uckersee. The visitors were thrilled and impressed by the lights in the sky, which perfectly rounded off the festive evening.
