A new hotspot for Schwerin's night owls and everyday needs has opened: The Späti “Späti61” has opened its doors at Friedrich-Engels-Straße 2C. How Uckermark courier reported, the opening took place at the beginning of September in the rooms of the former Café Barvinok.
The young entrepreneur Ossi Akid, just 25 years old, is a Kurdish migrant from Syria who has been living in Germany for 10 years. He came here alone at the age of 15 and had the dream of running his own business. He has now put this into practice and runs the Späti together with a friend. To do this, they founded a partnership under civil law (GbR).
Diverse offering and new post office
“Späti61” offers a wide range of products – from drinks and snacks to everyday items and international specialties. Particularly noteworthy is the new copy service, which was still missing in the area. From Monday, November 3rd, the Späti will also function as a post office. Here, customers can not only drop off parcels, but also registered mail, letters and international shipments - regardless of whether they are intended to reach Europe or beyond. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., allowing residents late access to services.
Renovating the store was an exciting challenge that lasted three months. Ossi and his friends pitched in and the floor was laid professionally. However, there were some delays in deliveries and technical preparations by the post office, which made the process a little longer. Nevertheless, the initial reactions from customers are more than positive. Many are happy about the new offerings in the area.
Insight into the Kurdish situation in Germany
Furthermore emphasized BBC that the PKK is laying down its arms and disbanding, which represents a major political shift for the Kurdish question in Turkey and could even represent a positive signal for the rights of Kurds in the region. From Ossi's perspective, as part of this community, this decision can be seen as a source of hope for better integration into German society.
The opening of “Späti61” is not only a business success, but also shows how integrative young entrepreneurs like Ossi Akid are entering German society and making a valuable contribution to diversity and community.
