Summer cinema in Brandenburg: top films in the open air!

Summer has finally arrived, and that means the open-air cinema season is starting again in Brandenburg. The first outdoor film screenings will open on June 21, 2025. A highlight is the Uckermark Mobile Cinema, which shows exciting films at the Eisschmiede in Pinnow. But that's just the beginning, because the region has much more to offer.

The Mobile Cinema Tour of the Multicultural Center (MKC) Templin is already a tradition. After the MKC had to close in 2016 for extensive renovation, a tour through the Uckermark was launched in the same year. Since then, the slogan “The best films in the most beautiful locations” has been the focus of the events, which promise a real cinema experience with high technical quality. The next stop on this tour is today as part of the City Wall Festival in Templin with the performance of “Like A Complete Unknown”. Further films are planned, including “Love Letters from Nice” on July 5th, which will take you through the Gerswalde moated castle. Ticket prices range between 8 and 12 euros, with reduced prices available for students and children.

Diversity in film choice

The open-air cinema program has something to offer for every taste. For example, numerous European films are on the program at the Schmellwitz Open Air Cinema Nights from July 16th to 19th. The event aims to present the striking prefabricated building district culturally. Visitors can look forward to school screenings and a Sorbian film evening - all without admission. In addition, physical well-being is taken care of. Food and drink are also an integral part of the offering at Ernst-Mucke-Platz.

  • Gezeigte Filme in Schmellwitz: Schulvorführungen, Sorbischer Filmabend, sechs europäische Filme.

For those looking for refreshment and entertainment on warm summer evenings, outdoor cinema screenings are ideal. The City Wall Festival and the Floating Film Evenings not only offer films, but also a great atmosphere in the middle of nature. Getting to the events is easy, with connections to public transport.

Open-air cinemas in the area

Of course, the open-air cinema season doesn't just continue in Templin. The summer cinema in Brandenburg an der Havel starts on June 26th and is organized by the Event Theater. Here, visitors can look forward to a variety of film screenings until October 16th, including a special presentation about everyday life and fantasy in the GDR.

The open-air cinema at the Ruppin-Brandenburg University Hospital also ensures film enjoyment. Classics like “Bodyguard” and “Notting Hill” are on the program here, with prices starting at just 5 euros at the box office.

What should you not forget when going to the cinema outdoors? Blankets, comfortable clothes and a little mosquito spray are not a given, but they ensure that the movie night remains carefree.

For further information about the events and the exact show times, it is worth taking a look at the websites of the respective cinemas Moz.de, Tourism Uckermark and Open air cinema.
