Talking stones and art: Fürstenwerder attracts visitors with its summer exhibition!
An exciting project is being created in the small community of Fürstenwerder that brings the history and culture of the place to life in a completely new way. The Mittenmang in Fürstenwerder e.V. association, which is committed to helping shape its surroundings, plays a central role in this. Ralf-Dieter Schulz, a local advertising expert, developed the vision to showcase the local resources, which include the impressive city walls and picturesque lakes. His goal is to make the centuries-old stories and legends of the village, especially those about the large boulders, come alive in a modern way. The largest of these stones measures a remarkable 35 square meters and is part of an exciting local legend that now serves to fascinate visitors to the region.
Schulz, who has run the leisure center in Fürstenwerder for 25 years, drew inspiration from his experiences with the village's children and wrote a book called "Fürstenwerder and the Talking Stones". Despite several financial hurdles in book printing - the independently organized printing was repeatedly postponed - his enthusiasm remains unbroken. A fundraising campaign two years ago brought in 500 euros, which was used for an art exhibition at the Multicultural Center. This exhibition, which now takes place annually, has significantly increased the capacity of the exhibition space and enables 17 artists from the area to present their works.
Art and stories in focus
A particularly innovative aspect of the project are the QR codes that are attached to the stones. These codes will allow visitors to access audio recordings and information that tell more about the stories of the stones and the surrounding area. This interactive component is intended not only to stimulate curiosity, but also to strengthen the connection between history and current experiences. In addition, the city wall circular route is enriched with willow sculptures and lovingly designed green spaces, which makes the overall picture even more appealing.
Another highlight of the season is a painting competition for elementary school students, whose works can be seen as part of the art exhibition from July 21st to 25th. Participation is not only rewarded, but also supported by sponsors who provide prizes for all children. The ceremonial conclusion of the children's exhibition will be a concert by Tino Eisbrenner on July 25th at 7 p.m. The Mittenmang in Fürstenwerder e.V. acts as the sponsoring association for the summer exhibition, which opens on July 27th at 7 p.m. - followed by a buffet and refreshing drinks.
Strengthen and promote community
Hella Bachmann, the deputy mayor and member of the village association, emphasizes the importance of the market for the village community. The fundraising campaigns are intended to ensure that our own beer tent sets and umbrellas will be available in the future to offer visitors a pleasant ambience.
