On August 9, 2025, the eagerly awaited cup duel between SC Victoria Templin and SV 1908 Grün-Weiß Ahrensfelde took place. The regional league team Ahrensfelde was considered the clear favorite, having only been relegated from the Oberliga Nord last season. But the Templiners were not impressed by this and got off to a brilliant start into the new season Northern Courier reported.
In front of around 150 spectators, Templin presented himself as highly motivated and well organized. The first half was characterized by intense duels and several clear chances for the hosts, even though they went into the break goalless. The guests from Ahrensfelde dominated the game at times, but were unable to overcome the Templin defense. After the half-time break, Ahrensfelde made three changes to his line-up, but the desired effect failed to materialise.
The decisive moment
The decisive moment came in the 63rd minute: Lucas Liebisch was fouled in the penalty area by an Ahrensfeld defender, and the referee awarded a penalty. Joan Völker converted this confidently and gave Templin a 1-0 lead. The hosts were not deterred by this setback and increased their offensive efforts. After a major mistake in Ahrensfelde's defense, it was Stefan Jähnke who increased Templin's lead to 2-0.
A goal from the guests in stoppage time to make it 2-1 came too late for the Templiners to overturn the result. After the final whistle, celebrations broke out for Victoria Templin - an unexpected but well-deserved win against a highly ranked opponent.
Outlook for the next games
With this triumph, SC Victoria Templin moves into the first round of the Brandenburg Cup, where they will face Stahl Brandenburg on August 16th. The Templiners start the league on August 22nd with a strong Uckermark derby against FSV Rot-Weiß Prenzlau. The league, with the fresh motivation from this cup game, promises to be exciting.
