The first Bremen trainee dormitory is scheduled to go into operation in September. This is particularly important because the demand for affordable living space continues to exceed the supply, especially for people with low and medium -sized incomes.

The problems on the housing market are not only noticeable in Bremen, but also affect all of Germany. Like the Federal Center for Political Education , there are missing 550,000 apartments nationwide. The increase in living space requirements is primarily due to the high immigration in recent years. The rental prices in large cities rise dramatically. According to the Federal Statistical Office, 52 % of people in Germany lived for rent in 2023.
