Bremen, Deutschland - The Bremen Advisory Board urgently is looking for new members to continue the important work in the fight against gender -specific violence. Consisting of ten members who have experienced different forms of violence themselves, the advisory board is committed to better protecting women and children in Bremen and facilitating access to help offers. Michelle Woelke, 28 years old, has been volunteering on this advisory board for four years and has experienced sexualized, digital and psychological violence in her youth. The aim of the advisory board is to check and assess measures to protect those affected, such as the violence protection clinic at the Bremen-Mitte Clinic, which was opened in April 2022 to help people experience domestic or sexualized violence.
Since the opening of the violence protection outpatient clinic, over 200 affected people have registered, with 87% of them being women. This outpatient clinic is part of a comprehensive state action plan with a total of 75 measures to implement the Istanbul Convention, of which 71 should be realized by the end of 2023, as the women's senator Claudia Bernhard emphasizes. There is also a plan of a violence protection clinic in Bremerhaven and the desire for a further facility in Bremen-Nord. Even if a registration office for HATE Speech was considered by the police, it could not be implemented for financial reasons.

On the round table for the Istanbul Convention, which met on June 21, representatives discussed: Inside from various institutions, the current measures of the state action plan and experience with the protection of violence. The Bremen Advisory Board sent four representatives to this important meeting. The prerequisite for an application is that the experiences are processed and those interested are at least 18 years old.
