DEO-TEST 2025: These products really protect against smell of sweat!
Deutschland - The Stiftung Warentest tested 15 deodorant products for men at the beginning of May 2025 to evaluate their effectiveness against sweat and smell. The tests were carried out under controlled conditions in a special sweat room with temperatures of 38 degrees Celsius and an air humidity of 35 percent. The price range of the tested products was between 0.43 euros and 20.26 euros per 100 milliliters. In addition to the reduction in sweat, the evaluation criteria also included protection against armpit smell, the frequency of use, environmentally critical ingredients, application as well as the declaration and advertising statements by the manufacturers. According to Ruhr24 , only six of the 15 tested deos met the requirements for effective protection against sweat and smell.
The test winners in this test are "Seinez. Anti-Transpirant Sport" by DM and "Cien Men Men Anti-Transpirant Extra Dry". At 58 cents per 200 milliliters, the LIDL product is the cheaper option, while the DM product is offered at a higher price. According to the test results, both products offer effective protection against smell of sweat and keep the armpits dry. In contrast to this, four products received the grade "sufficient" and failed when protected against moisture. The "Isana Men Men Anti-Transpirant Motion Protect" by Rossmann and the "Aveo Men Sport" from Müller performed particularly badly.

In a broader context, a further analysis of the Stiftung Warentest shows that a total of 21 deodorants and antiperspirants have been tested, although the reduction in sweat has become significantly better in recent years. In many cases, favorable own brands of discounters and drugstores have achieved good results. The smell test was carried out by trained testers, and a laboratory examination of welded cotton pads was also carried out. Here, too, some products such as the Stick from Ben & Anna and the Deoblock from Lush received the grade "poor" due to inadequate effect against sweat or inadequate labeling of the ingredients, such as Chip reported.
The topic of aluminum in deodorants
The discussion about the security of aluminum in antiperspirants remains an important topic. Antipirants often contain aluminum salts that reduce sweat production by constipating the sweat glands. There are different opinions on the health risks of these ingredients. While some earlier concerns about Parkinson's or Breast Cancer, recent studies show that low use is classified as harmless. The Federal Institute for Risk Assessment even recommends the daily use of aluminum -containing antiperspirants. However, users should make sure that these products only apply to healthy, non -freshly shaved skin. Information about these concerns and tests can also be found on the website of Test In summary, it can be stated that the selection of deodorants and antipranspirants is large, but not all products can convince. Users should be aware of the quality and ingredients in order to find suitable products for their needs.
