Celebrate Germany: Two weeks full of flavor at the Central Market!

As a good celebration would require, that will be the case Passport Germany Event will take place in the Central Market from today, September 10th, to September 23rd and will bring all friends of German cuisine together. This special event, held since 2010, focuses on German flavors, traditions and stories. A feast for the senses that will surprise guests with a variety of products and culinary experiences.

The event will kick off with a lively opening ceremony tonight from 5pm to 7pm, which will feature live music and an exclusive menu. A highlight are the over 3,000 types of German bread, which are even recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage. Guests can look forward to classics such as Bavarian rye bread, pumpernickel and yeast plait with cranberries and raisins.

A feast for the palate

Of course, beer won't be neglected either: Kölsch, Curator Doppelbock and Grandpa Plank's Weissbier are available to quench the visitors' thirst. But that's not all - delicacies such as Knackwurst, Bavarian Weisswurst and Currywurst are also on offer. For fans of sweet temptations, special dessert highlights come to the table with Black Forest cake and bee sting cake.

Vegetarian options, such as the onion tart with kale and caramelized onions, are also in the repertoire. And if coffee at the end is a must, there is plenty of opportunity for the popular “coffee and cake” treat.

What’s special about the event

Another delicacy are the wines that come from 13 German regions - including the fine Moselle Rieslings and Palatinate Pinots. If you're not into wine, you can choose between refreshing Vostok lemonades and Van Nahmen juices. There is also a carefully compiled list of the “Top 25 Passport Germany Must-Haves” that visitors should definitely try out.

The event is part of a large-scale two-week celebration of German culture and cuisine, which will be held at the Central Market. In addition to enjoyable taste experiences, there are also in-store events, courses and free tastings that round off the experience.

In Texas, where German culture is particularly important, traditional German recipes fuse with local ingredients. For example, Bavarian sausages are made from regional venison and hearty desserts are given a new twist with local nuts and fruits such as pecans and peaches. Restaurants like Shilo’s in San Antonio and The linden tree in Fredericksburg bring authentic German cuisine to the plate and celebrate the culinary diversity that combines Texan influences with German tradition.

The next two weeks at the Central Market not only offer culinary highlights, but also the opportunity to learn more about Germany's rich history and culture. A real must for all friends of good taste!
