A highlight of the day was the choice of the new king of the Wildeshaus Schützengilde, which took place on the evening of the festival. Timo Poppe, a 42-year-old managing director and member of the Primus Inter Pares guild club, prevailed against several competitors in the jump-off and was crowned as the new king. Poppe has a family tradition as a guild king because his father, brother and grandfather were also in this role. The coronation was celebrated by his club members who accompanied him to the city.
In addition, Andreas Tonn was introduced as a new Schaffer. The 46-year-old butcher will replace Philipp Hofaback, who went down in history as a "eternal Schaffer". Tonn has more than 20 years of experience in the industry, and he also has seven children, including Lasse, who was children's king in 2016.
