Dötlingen benefits: 42,000 euros for playgrounds and volunteering!
Dötlingen, Deutschland - The municipality of Dötlingen can look forward to unexpected income from the acceptance levy of EUR 38,950.64. Mayor Antje Oltmanns announced this in the community's Economic and Finance Committee. Another 3,500 euros are in prospect, since two wind turbines have not yet been billed. The income comes from voluntary taxes of the wind farms in Glane, Bergedorf and Wunderburg. These taxes provide operators of plants that went online before the Lower Saxony Citizens' Participation Act came into force. For all other operators, the acceptance levy is 0.2 cents per kilowatts generated.
The funds from the acceptance levy are intended for non -profit projects in order to increase the acceptance of wind power among the population. The council factions have made various suggestions for using the income. It was unanimously decided to divide the sum: 32,000 euros should flow into the upgrading of playgrounds, while 10,000 euros are used to support the volunteer.
planned projects and civic engagement
Mayor Oltmanns reported on possible projects for the playgrounds, including the idea of a knight's castle and a pirate ship. These projects are intended to cost costs between 36,000 and 40,000 euros. FDP parliamentary group leader Ulrike Boyens emphasized the importance of support for volunteering. The green faction also sees the upgrading of the playgrounds as a mandatory task and advocates a new village square in Dötlingen, whereby there are different location suggestions. Jens Schachtschneider, a committee member elected from the economy, also speaks out for funding in the field of volunteering.
Another decision by the local council is the annual creation of a list of priorities to use the acceptance tax. Suggestions can be submitted by the end of April. This is part of a larger package of measures in the context of the Lower Saxony Wind Act, which came into force on April 19, 2024 and aims to promote the acceptance of wind energy among the population. Lower Saxony strives to remain a leader in the production of electricity from renewable energies and has also doubled the expansion of wind turbines to at least 2.2 percent of the country.
advantages for municipalities and residents
The Lower Saxony Wind Act stipulates that operators of wind turbines pay an acceptance of 0.2 cents per kilowatt hour, which benefits the affected municipalities. Municipalities have to inform once a year about the use of the income. In addition to the acceptance levy, residents within a radius of 2.5 kilometers also benefit from the new systems, for example by receiving lower electricity prices or direct payments. The funded funds from the levy can be used for nature conservation, education or social projects.
Overall, it can be seen that the municipality of Dötlingen not only benefits from the new income, but also actively promotes citizen participation in order to further strengthen the acceptance of wind power. To be able to anchor the initiative locally is an essential part of the energy transition, which is of great importance for Lower Saxony.
