Digital revolution at the University of Marburg: Student ID now in the app!

Marburg, Deutschland - The Philipps University Marburg has recently made significant progress in the digitization of its services. From now on, all students can use their student ID and the Germany semester ticket digitally via the newly developed campus app. This app was provided in the app stores free of charge last summer and bundles various services from the university to facilitate internal communication. The introduction of the digital possibilities represents the completion of a comprehensive series of digitization measures at the university, which was implemented in cooperation with the university data center and the staff center for strategic digitization and project management. For this reason, the University of Marburg is now one of the first Hessian universities to offer an app-based solution for the student ID.

In the summer semester 2025, both the conventional paper ID and the digital ID will be valid. From the winter semester 2025/26, the use of digital versions will be mandatory, while alternative non-digital offers are still available.
