Hartz & Warm: Rostock stories in repetition - summer break!
From June 2, 2025, RTL 2 goes into a summer break with the popular social documentary "Hartz and warm-day by day Rostock". No new episodes from Rostock will be broadcast in the coming weeks. Instead, the broadcaster shows episodes from the Mannheim Benz barracks. At 6:05 p.m., the repetitions of old Rostock episodes can be seen, which include stories by well-known protagonists such as Sandra, Jasmin and Damian. Jasmin and Maik, who became parents a year ago, already dream of a second child. After his separation, Damian has the desire to return to Rostock, but is faced with challenges when looking for an apartment. It remains to be seen when new episodes from Rostock will be broadcast.
The current season of the documentary also shows a very special protagonist in one of the last episodes: Jack, a 21-year-old transgender man who comes from Groß Klein, a social focus in Rostock. Jack is facing his first sexual operation, which is an important step for his identity. In the hospital, he has a Zimmernachbarn named Basti, which has already had several interventions. The episode not only addresses Jack's interventions in which breast tissue is removed and the urethra is created for the "penis structure", but also the challenges that he meets in everyday life.
social challenges and emotional stories
Jack's reality of life stands for the experiences of many transgender people, who are often confronted with structural discrimination and emotional challenges. Author of the federal anti -discrimination agency examined the disadvantages of trans*people in Germany in more detail in an expertise. It is shown how difficult it is to get medical access, since strict diagnostic procedures are often required, for example to carry out a name or gender change. These hurdles can make the life of trans*people considerably more difficult, which is also reflected in high unemployment rates and psychological stress.
In the same episode as Jack's story, 20-year-old Cindy is accompanied, who recently had to give away her daughter Clara from the youth welfare office and separated from her friend Jean. Despite the difficult circumstances, Cindy seems to have found a new love. Another emotional focus is on the pensioner Regina, whose fiance Norbert was recently buried. Regina visits his grave for the first time, eight months after his death, a moment that arouses mourning and memories.
The importance of sensitization and support
The experiences in "Hartz and warm - day by day Rostock" make it clear how important awareness and support for marginalized groups are. The federal anti -discrimination agency therefore calls for extensive reforms to improve the living conditions of trans*people. This includes, among other things, the discharge of medical measures and the creation of trans*sensitive environments. The visibility and inclusion of trans*people in public are crucial to reduce discrimination and promote acceptance.
