Big news for swimming in Germany! The European Swimming Federation European Aquatics has announced that the 2026 Junior European Championships will take place in Germany. The exciting competitions are planned for July 7th to 12th, 2026. The great thing: It will be the first Junior European Swimming Championships in Germany in 40 years. The last event of this kind took place in West Berlin in 1986. However, exactly where the championships will be held is still up in the air.
The German Swimming Association (DSV) is confident that Germany will be considered as host. Even though no specific city has been announced yet, the DSV and European Aquatics are already working diligently on the organization to find a suitable venue. Further details will follow soon so that the anticipation for event planning can grow.
A colorful program in Germany
In addition to the junior swimming, Germany will also host the Junior European Championships in synchronized swimming. These will take place from June 30th to July 4th, 2026. Both events are crucial for the development of young talent preparing for the 2028 and 2032 Olympics. By hosting both events at the same time, Germany is showing that the country is committed to promoting swimming and wants to further increase enthusiasm for this discipline. The German Swimming Association highlights that several active athletes from the adult national team will also take part in the juniors to pass on their experiences.
As for other swimming events, the open water swimming competitions will take place in Hungary on June 19-21, 2026, while the diving competitions will take place on June 22-28, 2026. The exact dates for the high diving have not yet been set.

While Germany is heading towards these big events, the whole of Europe is looking forward to the 2026 European Swimming Championships. These will take place in Paris from July 25th to August 8th, 2026. The event is special as it takes place two years after the 2024 Olympics in the French capital.
