Cultural country: 40,000 for diversity and against right in Wendland!
The 36th "Cultural Land Party" (KLP) takes place this year in Wendland from Ascension to Pentecost. Organizers expect around 40,000 art lovers who are under the motto "solidarity. Diverse. Stand up against the right!" be gathered. This event aims to draw attention to current social developments and to protest against strengthening right -wing populist views. According to Weser-Kurier there are reports on the purchase of farms through so-called "imperial citizens" and other right-wing extremists.
The KLP has its roots in the anti-nuclear power movement and the protest against the repository in Gorleben and is often seen as a platform for political and cultural arguments. In the conservative region, an increase in ethnic settler families can be observed, which are also increasingly present in schools and daycare centers.
diverse offers and actions
By June 9th, numerous exhibitors, demonstrations and lectures on topics related to right -wing extremism are offered. A 320-sided travel guide who describes 87 organizers is also in demand outside of Germany, for example in Austria and Denmark. Utensils such as a behavioral king for foreigners should promote consideration for local life. Gastronomers and hotels are fully booked during the KLP, which is of great importance for the local economy.
Special promotions during the KLP are in the thematic focus on the strengthening right -wing populist views. This includes a historical review of the 1932 NSDAP elections and the foundation of the "Alliance against right Wendland/Altmark" to support neighbors in need. The left and emancipatory structures in Wendland complement this resistance to racism and right -wing extremism, whereby a “neighborhood group against right” is also active in Hitzacker.
Political Context and Activism
Politically, the KLP is overshadowed by the growing presence of the AfD in Wendland. This party represents positions that are considered racist and not compatible with democratic principles. Your basic program contains demands that discriminate against non-heterosexual partnerships and propagate a return to traditional roles for women. These developments underline the importance of the KLP as a political event because it organizes many actions to strengthen democracy and against discrimination.
Numerous activities such as workshops on anti -fascism, feminism and sustainability are also planned. An anti-racist multimedia network project called "I have a dream" is presented in Clenze. In Gorleben, weekly walks take place against the nuclear camp that has been going on for 15 years. There is also a benefit festival to support the Gorleben Archive and an MSNT festival with a political program and parties.
The KLP also offers special offers such as childcare and a shuttle service for visitors. Bicycle loan options for rail travelers are available on site to facilitate arrival traffic. These diverse offers are characterized by art and culture to mobilize the current dangers through right -wing extremism. The great encouragement for the event shows impressively that the citizens are determined to work for a solidarity together.
