Reading week in Demmin: Students and students conjure up reading magic!
From June 10th to 13th June 2025, a project week takes place at the University of Rostock, in which 29 students of the fourth semester are active in the primary school teaching position. Under the leadership of Professor Wenke Mückel from the Institute for Celhantary School Education, these students will carry out a reading-didactic exercise together with 74 primary school children of the Pestalozzi primary school in Demmin. The aim of this project is to promote playful access to reading and at the same time increase the reading motivation of the children.
The students have prepared an extensive program that extends over the morning and afternoon. In the morning, a differentiated reading lesson is carried out in which the theoretical foundations of reading pedagogy are put into practice. In the afternoon, a creative offer for children in classes 1 to 4 takes place under the motto "Book fun in the afternoon". Here the children can take part in interactive stations that include scientific experiments, waffle cheeks, language games, improvisations, merciful campaigns and read aloud and a creative writing workshop.

The highlight of the project week is a big competition in the gym, in which mixed -age teams compete against each other to collect reading points.
