Chaos when arriving at the Fusion Festival: 70,000 guests expect problems!
Around 70,000 music enthusiasts will flock to the Fusion Festival at the former military airfield in Lärz near Röbel from June 25th to 29th, 2025. The festival, which has been running for over 20 years and is known for its mix of music, theater and installations, is considered a kind of “holiday communism” and attracts visitors from all over the world. In addition to the musical highlights, participants can also expect workshops and discussions that promote utopias and creative ideas. NDR reports that there will be traffic disruptions and railway closures upon arrival.
Police security measures are already in full swing. There will be controls on federal highway 198 before the exit from the A19 to regulate the flow of traffic. From Tuesday, the station forecourt as well as two parking spaces in Neustrelitz and the fairground will be closed in order to better manage the arrival of festival visitors.
Arrival and departure: A logistical challenge
Many of the festival visitors rely on the train to travel to Neustrelitz, followed by shuttle buses to Lärz. Even if the German railway assured that despite construction work on the tracks and in the signal box in Oranienburg there will be regional trains to the festival, travelers will face some restrictions. The S-Bahn to Oranienburg runs every 20 minutes, but the intercity connections will no longer be available as usual. Arrival and departure in particular are likely to cause delays for the many festival visitors.
Experience has shown that the ten special trains between Oranienburg and Neustrelitz will be fully booked in no time. The railway recommends booking trains early and not taking bicycles with you. Departure problems are expected on June 30th; Therefore, Deutsche Bahn advises returning early. From July 1st at 3 a.m. there will no longer be any trains on the route between Waren an der Müritz and Berlin - travelers will then have to use buses.
Sustainability in focus
Another topic that is becoming increasingly important when it comes to music festivals is environmental sustainability. A recent study by Music Declares Emergency has shown that arrivals and departures are the main source of CO2 emissions at festivals. Around two thirds of the emissions come from the travelers themselves. Only 38% of festival visitors use public transport, while 27% travel by car, which particularly increases CO2 emissions.
To promote personal responsibility, festival-goers are also encouraged to have their pills tested for overdose. The aim is to promote an enlightened and conscious festival culture. The mix of creativity, safety and environmental awareness makes the Fusion Festival 2025 an event that provides important impulses not only musically, but also socially and ecologically.
