On the night of Sunday, September 7th, 2025, a break-in at the “Wildlife” nature experience center in Trassenheide on Usedom caused a stir. Unknown perpetrators were able to force their way into the center between 6:05 p.m. on September 6th and 7:05 a.m. on September 7th, 2025 and pried open eleven slot machines. The theft amounts to several hundred euros in cash, while the property damage amounts to around 28,000 euros. Fortunately, the valuable exhibits, including taxidermy, remained undamaged. Due to forensics and clean-up work, the experience center had to remain closed on Sunday, but the reopening has been announced for Monday n-tv reported.
A witness informed the police station in Heringsdorf about the incident at 7:20 a.m. The police confirmed the break-in and have taken over the investigation. The responsible officers are calling on all citizens who may have made observations to report them to the Heringsdorf police station on 03878-2790 or via the internet watchdog.
