First alpaca foal Nina delights Stralsund Zoo visitors!

The Stralsund Zoo can look forward to a new, lively resident: an alpaca foal named Nina has seen the light of day. This small, curious creature with big googly eyes is the first alpaca foal to be born at the zoo and is already getting lots of charming cuddles. The proud mother, the alpaca mare Bärbel, was already pregnant when she arrived in Stralsund last summer, reports NDR.

Bärbel and Nina are part of a small herd that now consists of the alpacas Olaf, Hildegard and the curious foal. It's an exciting time for the zookeepers and visitors, because Nina is already showing her cheeky nature and delighting everyone with her lively behavior. The Stralsund Zoo offers not just a look at the new alpacas, but a whole experience for animal lovers.

Diverse wildlife in the Stralsund Zoo

Anyone who visits the Stralsund Zoo can enjoy a varied animal world. In addition to the alpacas, you can also observe the social behavior of the Arctic Wolves. The majestic lions and the turbulent family life of the chimpanzees are further highlights. For younger visitors there is a petting zoo where they can cuddle with African dwarf goats and experience them being fed. Food is available directly at checkout to give little ones an even better experience.

The zoo also has a rich leisure program. From adventure playgrounds with slides and swings to a wheelchair-accessible carousel, nothing is left to be desired. And if you need a little break, you can enjoy snacks, cakes, ice cream and drinks in the “Delikather” bistro to recharge your batteries.

Education and nature conservation in focus

The Stralsund Zoo actively pursues the goal of arousing interest in nature and its protection. There are also many programs for preschool and school children and adults as well as exciting project days and guided tours for school classes. Whether exotic barbecue evenings or informative tours – we make sure that education and fun are not neglected.

Whether observing the animals, taking advantage of the interactive learning opportunities or simply enjoying the beautiful park – every corner of the zoo invites you to learn more about the fascinating world of animals and plants.
