Important investment areas include school construction, the renovation of streets, the strengthening of the medium -sized economy and housing construction. Another goal is to reduce energy prices to relieve both citizens and companies.

Prime Minister Schwesig also calls for the Federal Government to create the necessary legal framework for the implementation of the investment package. At the regional level, local associations and the opposition warn that the funds could be used to replace state funds, whereas the need for additional investments remains enormous.

As part of the efforts to strengthen the country's economic strengthening, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania also wants to expand its position as an energy country. Hydrogen technologies are also becoming increasingly important, and with them the need to create new value chains. According to a study by the Berlin Institute, it can be seen that the energy transition offers particularly rural and structurally weak regions of developmental perspectives. The expansion of renewables can increase the income of the municipalities and thus facilitate investments in general interest and infrastructure.
