A serious accident that happened on Wednesday evening shortly before Ulrichshorst on the state road between Zirchow and Ahlbeck caused excitement in the region. A 73-year-old driver suffered life-threatening injuries. According to information from NDR, the driver left the road and collided with several traffic signs and a tree before the vehicle came to a stop in the ditch. It is believed that he was traveling without lights and possibly too fast.
The situation was so serious that the fire department had to intervene to free the trapped driver. The seriously injured man was then taken to the hospital in Greifswald by rescue helicopter. The emergency services also detected a trace of alcohol, which led to a blood sample being ordered. Investigations are now underway against the driver for dangerous interference with road traffic, which is not unusual in such cases.
